Canadian Games

At the moment we have two trainee teachers from Canada. One is in St. Vincent (Krista) and the other, Emma, is in our room. They are here for 6 weeks.
Yesterday Krista and Emma took the two classes out for the first session on 'Canadian Games'. They taught us how to play 'Giants, Wizards & Elves', which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Trip to Founders Park

All of the classes walked to Founders Park to have a look around, as part of our 'Then and now' unit. The children walked with their buddies, who were very good at looking after them.
When we got to the park we had morning tea and then split back into our classes. We walked (some of us ran) around the venue in small groups.
It was a great day and the children were able to sit on/ in some of the vehicles. which was very exciting. We had lunch there and Mrs Hockley joined us for this.
After that we went on the playground, which seemed swamped by the whole school - great fun.
We stopped at another park on the way home but unfortunately the weather threatened a change and we headed back to school.
Trafalgar were quite tired by the time we reached school and we had some 'blob out' time.

Fundamental Skills with Hannah

Once again this year we have the opportunity to learn some skills from Sport Tasman instructor, Hannah.

At the moment she is focusing on our throwing skills.

Kayden said, "It is fun. I got my toy in the net."
James said, "I am really good at throwing and my bag went a long way."
Logan said, "It was hard to get in the net."
Joseph said, "I am good at doing muscle arms." (one of the skills is to make muscle arms).
Ateongo said, "I can throw my bean bag."
Clara said, "I put my frog into the net two times."

Buddy Reading

Trafalgar are still enjoying their time with their senior buddies. Usually St. Vincent and Nile come to our room and it is a chance for us to practice reading our jingles and hear a story from them.
Some of the kids comments:
"My buddy has good stories," said Zac.
"I like my buddy," said Ngametua.
"My buddy helps me," said Ruru.
"My buddy is kind and shows me stories," said Lucas.
